Basic Nut Milk

How It's done:


1 cup raw almonds (brazil nuts will work well too)
4 cups filtered water (extra for soaking)
1 tablespoon organic honey
1 vanilla pod, seeds only


Place nuts in a large bowl and add enough filtered water to cover approximately 2-3cm above the level of the nuts. Leave overnight to soak. In the morning, discard the soaking water and rinse the soaked nuts. Place them in your blender along with 4 cups of fresh filtered water and blend for approximately 3 minutes or until the milk has formed. At this stage, you can either drink as is or pour the milk into a nut-milk bag and allow the milk to drain into a large bowl while the pulp remains inside the bag. Return the filtered milk to your blender along with honey and vanilla and blend again for 1 minute. Store in a glass jar in the fridge for up to 5 days.
